How do you install ring terminals?
Ring terminals can be connected with a crimping tool. To do this, prepare the wires by stripping them. Then slide the wire into the terminal body so that the insulation touches the barrel. Next, crimp the terminal. The crimping tool should have colored dots that match the insulation on the terminal. Inspect the crimp for clean indentations and make sure the terminal is not bent or damaged. Activate heat shrink with a heat gun. Lastly, perform a tug test to test that the crimp is secure.
What is the difference between a fork terminal and a ring terminal?
A fork terminal is open on the end, allowing it to be slipped onto a stud or screw without completely removing the fastener. A ring terminal is more secure but requires the fastener to be completely removed before it can be installed.
